Harry Potter Wedding

I remember growing up while the Harry Potter craze was becoming huge. My friends were among the millions getting prepare for the next movie or book to come out. Making shirts and buying tickets for the midnight showing way in advanced to make sure they had a spot. I remember the crowds in various house colors. Greens, maroons, yellow, and black colors were everywhere not to be outdone the random lightning bolts on all sorts of foreheads. Static brain states that the books alone have made over 7 billion dollars, let alone anything else. Needless to say that the Harry Potter fever infects all sorts of aspects of people lives.  With the latest release of the last Harry Potter movie a brand new trend has come out: Harry Potter Weddings.
I personally love it, as I do all unique themes. I mean, that’s why I started this blog in the first place.

So for my first installment on Harry Potter Weddings I am going to go into the movie interpretation of William (Bill) Weasley and Fleur Delacour wedding. You know, before it got ruined by uninvited guest. :)

They used purple as the base color with high ceilings and a lot of drapery.  Scroll and swirls and wispy environment with black and white accents, taking into account of the wispy nature of the Delacour’s. Though, personally I thought the character Fleur wasn’t portrayed correctly, I did like the wedding reception.  It made me feel transplanted, as any good event should feel.

So, how do you get a beautiful wedding like the Weasley/Delacour event?

Start with finding a good spacious venue and order a high cathedral tent with scalloped edging and tassels in-between each scallop. As a color pallet stick with lighter purple colors and black and white accents. Purple with Scroll edging was hung from the roof top resembling the interior of a Hindu tent. With the exception of tying the pieces hanging down they let it hang down like entry ways. To be a good opposite a darker purple floor was laid down.  Lavender round tables with dark chiavaris chairs and large candle holders with a silver swirl base.  You may find it to be an iron work a good silver spray paint will suffice.

Look for vintage 20th century items and wardrobe. Three tiered round desert treys filled with small finger desserts that were placed among the tables. A funky yet conservative wedding dress that is inspired by peacocks; though it’s my belief that you should pick a dress that the bride loves and looks great in. If you really want peacock accents there are appliques and accessories that will give you an ideal look. A three tier large cake with a white bird cage on top with fruit accents and a gazebo inspired detail in white.

The Weasley/ Delacour wedding not your thing, but still want a Harry Potter Wedding? My next installment will be about Harry Potter Themed Wedding done in real life. See you soon-Jay
